As a filmmaker initially, I experienced years of laborious planning, hiring of crew that you're responsible for, fundraising and extreme risk. Risk I've fallen victim to in the most humiliating ways. I always had a drive to paint, to create at a moment's notice with only myself as a force; but was afraid, because I don't know how to 'draw.' Then, one day, fed up with writing yet another film grant proposal to get feet on the ground of a project that I've wanted to make for five years, I bought paint and a canvas. And here I am. Enjoying the immediacy of inspiration and creation that filmmaking could never afford me.
